She was so beautiful!

On Wednesday we posted the latest challenge at Simply Scrapping! Using the sketch provided, we were to use flowers for the extra fun. I made my flowers out of Starbucks cup holders with a punch, shimmer paint, and vintage buttons. I will have to post a tutorial for you sometime. Although, it's pretty darn simple.

Anyway, this layout was a tribute to Joyce, Keith's grandma who passed away recently. I love this picture of her as a teen and have been wanting to use it. Finally I did. I used lot's of Sassafras Lass in this one.

If you haven't already hopped on over to the blog, go check out the layout and card sketches and play along. We have a $20 grab bag up for the winner! Not too shabby, I must say!

Have a good one!

Newest Challenge at Simply Scrapping! Another reason to love Wednesdays!

Alright, I know, today is Thursday, but I got hung up doing other stuff with the family and didn't get this one posted. So, I have a good reason for being a day late on this one.

Obviously we have our newest challenge up at Simply Scrapping.... so, I know you all know that it is primarily a Ning site, and we tried posting the challenges on the blog for a while, but then that stopped. Anyway, we are once again posting the challenges on the blog because we are now linked up at the awesome Pile It On Challenge Blog!! How cool is that! Use our awesome card and layout challenges in the Pile It On challenge!!

This is my layout for the layout sketch... it is also a color combo challenge as well.... go check it out and play along!! You can link up via Mr. Linkey!!

A Wedding and Everything in Threes

The newest challenge for this month went up at Simply Scrapping on Wednesday! yay! I am loving Judy's sketches and the extra fun that the DT is picking. We are having a blast coming up with stuff to challenge your scrapping minds! And everyone is doing such a wonderful job playing along! we hope to see more of you over at the site!
This weeks challenge extra with the sketch was to use three different papers, buttons, whatever. Basically three of whatever you could. I did three different buttons, hat pins, papers and laces.

I'm not happy with this picture... I took it in my kitchen, at night, which is NOT the time to photograph a layout... but I had a deadline! You know how that is! Next time!

Products Used: Basic Grey papers (all); Glimmer Mist; Prima Say it in Pearls; Lace is unknown; American Crafts Thickers for title; Hat pins are Maya Road; Tulle; and an old piece of some of my sheet music.

What a Sexy Man!! Yummy! :)

If you say I am bias, yes, I am. Of course I believe that my man is the sexiest! (Well, after Bruce Springsteen of course...) Anyway, I did this for the first challenge of November for Simply Scrapping. We were supposed to use the sketch provided and the extra twist was to use two colored photos and one b&w photo.... easy, right? Well, for me, not so much. I don't often take a lot of b&w photos... I generally end up converting them later if I want to, but lately most of the pictures I have taken just don't look good in b&w.

I, unfortunately did not get this layout fully completed and photographed in time to display as an example for the community. I'll be honest, I am kind of happy it wasn't displayed. This is NOT my favorite layout, nor am I really all that happy with it. However, I believe in sharing, and this is my share, and my opinions on the blog. I just was in a hurry and wansn't thinking or caring as much. You can definitely tell!

However, I do love sharing my sexy man via internet! And I love my hirsute man!!!

Something new is up at Simply Scrapping! And check out the awesome Prize!!!!

Well, it has finally happened... Simply Scrapping has become a total SKETCH COMMUNITY! I am seriously stoked! Not only do we still have our Ning community, but we have the SIMPLY SKETCHES BLOG which has our weekly sketch challenge posted on it. You don't even have to be a member of the Ning community to play in the challenges and be in the running for the prizes!!! How great is that?! We have a Mr. Linky set up for you to post your entry!

This is the prize for October:

Isn't it great?!

And playing is sooooo simple! We have two sketches posted on the blog and in the community in the Challenges section. You can do either the card sketch, the layout sketch, or both. However, there is a twist each week to the sketches. The DT tells you something you must use or add to your project in order to meet the criteria. Not hard at all! This week, you just have to use FABRIC (NO RIBBON) on your project . somewhere! Easy! (Just a note: you are more than welcome to complete both sketches, but your name is only entered ONCE per week.) You don't have to complete all the weeks to be in the drawing.... however, there is more of a chance if you complete each week. At the end of the month, a random name is drawn for the grand prize! It's great!

Now that you know what to do, Go either to the BLOG or COMMUNITY and start playing with these wonderful sketch challenges!!

Here was my layout for the sketch challenge:

Thanks for looking!

Stop & Smell the Flowers

I know I have totally used these pictures of Serenity in layouts before, but I love them!! They are fabulous! So, of course I had to use them again.... and I am sure they will get used again! So be prepared!

For these two layouts, I used two sketches from Judy at Simply Scrapping. Fabulous sketches, and she is getting more and more detailed with these things! She has got me really thinking! I love that! (and I am telling you, if you haven't come and joined us, you really need to! It is seriously worth signing up for a ning account if you don't already have one!! we have prizes... lots of, and challenges, games, etc.!!)

Enjoy and TFL!!

Serenity's First Halloween

This layout was done from Simply Scrapping's Simply Sketch #46... The papers are by Glitz Design... LOVE them! Such a great Halloween collection!

I finally got around to some of the older pictures of the kids.... I have always adored this picture of Serenity from her first Halloween. She wasn't even a month old! She looks so tiny.... very sweet picture. Her grandma Sherri set her up with the stuffed pumpkins and doll for the picture. Billy and I got the outfit right after she was born. I didn't want an actual costume, but this does the trick for the holiday... don't you think? Cute, huh?

Oh so very tiny... my baby girl.... seems like this was only yesterday. Now she will be 4 next month! How time flies!

TFL!

You Thinking

A sketch from Judy over at Simply Scrapping.... I have been on a Sassafras Lass kick, as you can see. Everything on this layout is Sassafras except the Kraft and the pen! TFL

Simply Scrapping is Simply Amazing!

Ok, I know, I'm on the DT, so of course it's a given I would give a shout out, but seriously, Judy at Simply Scrapping is so fabulous.... if you haven't joined the community and met her, you really need to. She is an asset to the scrapbooking community, and has opened doors for many people. I have watched several of my fellow DT members flourish and become DT's for manufacturers and become published! How cool is that!? She is a fantastic businesswoman, and extremely kind, courteous, and customer service oriented. If she lived near me I would want her working for me, no doubt. She has developed a sucessful business selling scrapbooking lots on eBay... she has won awards and accolades for her work on eBay. She has been selling on eBay for 9 years! Talk about some woman! I also must add that she is a very talented scrapbooker herself. In addition to being my online boss, I am very lucky to say that I also consider her a very good friend. She means a lot to me, and even though we are far from each other and have never met in person, I feel like I know her so well. She is not shy... she calls people like she sees them and has the greatest personality. I have been fortuanate to speak with her on the phone, and have the best time talking with her. We have literally talked for hours! She has not always had it easy, but has learned from everything she has been through and isn't afraid to talk about it so that others can learn as well. Her family is beautiful and she has the most gorgeous grandkids. They are usually the focus of her layouts when she does one. She is passionate about her work, which I adore in a person. I just had to tell everyone why I am so passionate about Simply Scrapping and Judy there. Love ya Judy!!

And since I have prattled on so much about Judy, let me show you something she has done for me.... she has helped me create some of my favorite layouts thanks to her sketches. The three layouts below were all created using sketches that Judy designed. (She's also uber talented!)

The sketches are great and come out in sets once a week or so. Check them out on the community when you can!

(NOTE: the links for eBay take you to Judy's eBay store.... fabulous lots of scrapbooking supplies there.... )
