Magical Place - Art Journal Page

Working from home allows me, well, a bit of time, for things such as art, cleaning, art, cooking, art, getting out, daydreaming, art, and more art. Alright... maybe not THAT much art... but I can dream, right?

The daydreaming part, that is pretty much spot on.... which is what inspired the art journal spread I am sharing with you today.

After my girl Susan and I took Dyan Reaveley's class in Kansas and I loaded up on Dylusions and a Dylusions Journal, well, I totally went to town making backgrounds. I took Dyan's advice and ran with it... I made background after background. I didn't do them with any particular spread or page in mind. Some might call this sheer madness... I call it inspiring!

Because I made all of these backgrounds,I had a ton of pages I could just start working on without worrying about what to make the background look like. All I have to do is add to it... and make a focal point.

Another gal pal of mine through art, by the name of Monica Downing introduced me to the AWESOME site Deviant Scrap. I'm sure a ton of you already know about this treasure trove of yumminess, but this girl didn't. Not until I asked Monica where she procured her awesome cutouts for her pages.. and she shared with me. So you know what I did, right?

I bought some kits.... and here is what I made with elements from one of the kits....  (click for a larger image)

All elements from the Just Go With It - Mini Digital & Printable Element Kit from Crowabout StudioB by Nancy Baumiller
Because I daydream, the girl was perfect (all of her elements are from the kit listed below the image) as well as my tree, her mushroom and the grass. She is so fun, with her doodled hair that is all over the place! I had a blast making her hair. It is soothing to sit and doodle. I especially love white pen on black marker or paint.

The circles in the corner and by the tree, as well as the half circles were made using molding paste in a stencil by The Crafters Workshop. I like to have some dimension on my pages without having too much. It also gives it more texture. My quote came from online, with an anonymous source. I didn't look too deep into who might have said it, so if you happen to know who and can link me, let me know! I want to give credit where it's due!!

Thanks for stopping by! Sorry for all the chatter from me lately! I feel like I am finally getting into a groove of posting!!
