Last week, over at the Your Memories Here blog, I shared this jewelry tray I created using Glimmer Mist, Mod Podge and some pretty papers. The papers and embellishments I used came from the Pink Ninja Addicts kit "Love Fool". I have been hoarding my Addict kits, which is why you haven't seen any creations from me with them! I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to supplies and kits that I am in love with. This was no exception.
Believe it or not, this tray originally held a block puzzle of my nephews. I'm not sure what happened to all of the puzzle pieces, but they are gone. So I was left with this little tray floating around in the kids toys in our basement area.
I thought it would be nice to do something with it, so, I created this tray for my jewelry. I don't have a jewelry box, but don't really have a ton of jewelry, nor is there enough room on my dresser for one, so having a tray like this is perfect!
I first sanded down the tray and then primed it with white gesso. I used three coats of the gesso. After it had dried, I sprayed my glimmer mist in several blue hues all over it. I used my heat gun to dry. I applied my patterned paper in the center/bottom of the tray as well as around the tray on the outside as you can see in the photo below.
I added the butterfly embellishments as an afterthought. I just thought they looked cute! I adhered and sealed everything with Mod Podge. I used two coats of the Mod Podge. Once everything was sealed, I applied a coat of Glimmer Glaze for some sparkle. It looks fabulous!
Below are some shots with some jewelry in it!
Be sure to check out both the Your Memories Here Store and the Addicts for some awesome scrappy goodies!!!
