This is my take on the bonus Sketch 17 from Simply Sketches... this one was great for layering and distressing papers.... gave me some great ideas. Check it out for yourself and play along with us!

Bette (pronounced Betty) is my youngest sister. She is not our biological sister... she is adopted. She is biologically my oldest sisters middle child. My older sister has had a rough life, and was unable to properly care for Bette. She made the ultimate sacrifice and gave Bette to our parents to raise. We have had Bette since she was only a few weeks old. I have known her as a sister for all these years. It is sometimes hard for her, because she does know the truth... that Trinity, who is legally now her sister, is biologically her mother. My older brother has never thought of Bette as his sister, he still thinks of her as his niece. That is hard for us. But I understand why he feels that way... he did not grow up with Bette as myself and Dora ( my other sister) did, so he does not feel the connection that we do. I respect that. It is hard for our mother though. I did this layout to show Bette, and my family how I feel about her. She IS and always has been my little sister. Nothing will change that, not even that piece of paper. We didn't need the law to tell us she was our sister..... or my parents daughter. She just is.
Products used: Sassafras Lass patterned papers, Kraft cardstock, Prima Fleur vines and flowers, American Crafts Thickers painted with Making Memories Acrylic paints, Bazzill Floss, Jenni Bowlin rubon, Maya Road chipboard circle, .... the papers were distressed with the Heidi Swapp Distressor after being sprayed with Glimmer mist and dried.

AMAZING Emily! I love it sooo much!
I just LOVE this layout. Your little sister is as cute as she can be, and what a touching story about her place in your family. The papers you chose go so well with the photo too - looks like a summer day in Kansas!
