Genuinely Jane Studios & Artistcellar Team Up!!

Hello! Today is the first day of a full week of a team up between the Genuinely Jane Studios and Artistcellar teams! I can't tell you how excited I was to hear that we were teaming up with Artistcellar! They make some of the most awesome stencils... which is what we got to play with for this team up/hop!

You may have come here from the Artistcellar Blog and Tammy's project... if so, WELCOME!!

For my project I chose the Pari (ACS030-8.5x11) Stencil from the Old World Maps Series stencils.

Look at the detail!!!! You can do a lot with this one...

I chose to use the stencil with the GJS Cascade (G304) Album and create this fun sign for the side door of our house.

I should first tell you that I had to drill additional holes in each of the album pages before starting this project. They do not come with this many holes in them! (Just an FYI for anyone unfamiliar with the albums!)

Each section of the sign was first sprayed with some Dylusions Ink Spray in Black Marble. Over that I used my Gelli Plate with some black acrylic paint that I stamped bubble wrap into. You can't really see any of this unless you are up close to the sign... but it looks really neat.

The Pari stencil was used with white acrylic paint and my Gelli Plate to make each design on the sections. I tried to do each section a little different from the last. It was fun. Honestly, a lot of it was just experimenting with the plate, stencil and album.

Check out the stencil on the sections below...
When I first saw this stencil I thought it looked a bit like a spider web or cracked glass... but once I used it, I totally can see the streets! However, it still has that cracked glass look... I am thinking this would be great for a Halloween piece. All of the Old World Map Series is pretty awesome. I am definitely going to be getting the rest of the series. They are great even if only for a little texture on a piece, and are really versatile! I also noticed that the Artistcellar stencils are really well made, and of high quality. I used a TON of modeling paste, on this same stencil and it didn't damage it in any way or warp it as I have seen the paste do to other stencils. And this particular stencil is VERY detailed!

The entire sign was put together with some twine and is now hanging on my side door. I LOVE it!

Be sure to pop over to the Artistcellar Blog and leave Tammy some love!!! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to stop by the Artistcellar and Genuinely Jane Studios Blogs throughout the week for more inspiration from both teams!!!

Have a fantastic day!!!

Love that sign - I have 2 of those stencils and just love them. They are very strong for such detailed stencils.

Hi,

What a great way to use an album. The city stencil does look a little like cracked glass. I really like the grey and red palette you used, a nice change.

What a fun way to greet your guests. I really like how each panel is subtly different, but the texture created by the Paris stencil connects them all. I have drooled over this stencil a number of times and may have to finally buy it. Thanks for the inspiration.

This really looks awesome. The subtle grayish-black background looks like fog to me. Than the contrasting red looks fantastic. TFS C~

I probably wouldn't have thought of streets when I first saw the stencil but then it comes into focus. Glad you saw the design and came up with a great door hanger. Thanks for sharing.
