Through Emily's Eyes: It's a Girl!!

Hi friends! How are you? All is going well here in my world. I've been busy with work and creating in my studio when I can. I haven't had as much time as I have wanted lately, but I'm working on it!

Today I have a banner that I made using one of the fabulous books made by Genuinely Jane Studios. Once again, I did not use the album as an actual book, but instead turned it into a decorative piece for the home. In this case, I made a banner for Serenity's bedroom door. My banner debuted on the GJS Blog the other day with some very kind words from Susan. :)

I made the banner using the Square with Dress 4x4 Album (G105) from GJS. When I first received this, I knew that I wanted to make something for Serenity. I thought about a regular album, but that isn't really me these days. I love making banners and decided this would make a great one. In order to do this though, I needed one more hole in each of the pages. So, using my drill, I made my own. Using some papers from a Studio Calico kit, I covered the pages, after painting them with some Lumiere paint. I used a Spellbinders die to cut out the scalloped circles which I placed over doilies using some Zapdots.

For the dress cutout I placed patterned paper behind the cutout and filled it in halfway with UTEE. Perfect pearls was placed along the inside edges for more texture. After everything was dry, I added American Crafts letters, Prima mini roses and bakers twine to finish up the project.

Serenity loves it. I put it on her bedroom door to surprise her when she got home from her dads. It was a huge hit. She really likes all of the flowers and pink... it's very girly, which is totally her. The other nice thing, is that it says Girl, so really it could be used for something like a baby shower, or as a way to tell your family you are having a girl... it could really be used for a lot of things!
