Genuinely Jane Studios Website

Today is the day my friends!! The Genuinely Jane Studios (GJS) website is LIVE!!! Hooray! This means you will be able to purchase these awesome wooden albums and enjoy them as much as I have! You will love them! Let me first tell you a little bit about the company...

From the GJS Website:

Genuinely Jane Studios (GJS) manufactures small and medium sized mini-albums for scrapbooking, mixed media and altered arts in a variety of shapes and sizes. 100% American-made, our facility is located in rural, north-central Missouri and uses only the highest quality materials.  All Genuinely Jane products are crafted by hand in our on-site facility.  We hand-select the best pieces of natural wood for each product.

So, as you can see these books are awesome! And very reasonably priced! For the Grand Opening, GJS will be celebrating ALL WEEK LONG!! Over on the GJS Blog there will be giveaways every day, and all of the winners will be chosen on Sunday, March 9th via a live UStream event!!

Also, if you order by Sunday, March 10th, you can receive 10% off of your order! Just type GOMARCH in the comments section of the order form and 10% of your order will be refunded to you!

Now that all of that info is out of the way, let me share with you what I made using one of these fantastic albums!

For my first project as a DT member for GJS I used the Gear Album (G005)
I chose to turn my gears into flowers! I wasn't sure at first what I was going to do. At first, it was going to be a canvas piece that was steampunk themed. As soon as the gears were placed on the canvas though, I realized they would make adorable flowers!

I did take the cover of the album and glue it to one of the pages for my center flower. It needed a backing for the center of the flower, so that is why I adhered them together. The other two flowers are the remaining pages of the album. Lots of modeling paste, tissue paper, paints, stencils and stamps were used in creating each flower.

Each center of the flowers is different from the others. The pink flower is a wooden circular piece I found which I covered in washi tape and paint. I added glitter in the center for some sparkle. The yellow flower has a fabric rosette for it's center, and the purple/blue flower's center is made of a vintage milk bottle lid and two buttons. You can use anything around the house for the centers, which is exactly what I did. :)

I did add wooden dowels for stems to the album, and used muslin bags to make the leaves.

I chose this project to share with you because it shows right away how versatile these albums can be. Also, they allow you to think outside of the box. You don't have to use them for albums...you can use the pages as individual canvases, make them into something completely different! That's the beauty of these! And the wood is great for layering up your mediums.

Be sure to stop by the retail store and get your 10% off of your order before next Sunday!!! I'll be back this week with more information, sneak peeks and maybe even a surprise!!!
