Mother and Daughter - Pretty Paper Party

Okay, I have a confession. Since the JYC class started, I have stopped with my Pretty Paper Party prompts for the time being. I think I am going to do some later today, after I sleep of course, considering this is being posted at 12:30 in the morning! I did have this layout completed though, and wanted to share with you all. The class really helped me, as I told you in earlier posts, to get my mojo going again and confident in scrapping more instead of just doing mixed media. I'd gotten a bit down on myself and my abilities to scrap, so I turned to mixed media as an outlet, and because I love it so much. However, I still love to work with all paper as well, and taking Shimelle's classes have helped me so much to returning to my original love!

Mother and Daughter was made for the 16th prompt of the Party which talked about paper stacking. It is a perfect way to use up your scraps without showing every part of the scrap. It's nice, you can actually pretty much hide the scrap and just use it for dimension on your layout.
In this layout's case though, I wanted my scraps to be visible. I used the remainder of a Jenni Bowlin kit that I had purchased from Crafty Steals to create this. I'm not normally into this palette of colors or designs, so when I originally saw this kit for sale, I wasn't going to get it. I decided though, that I needed a challenge and to try something out of my comfort zone. It was a good thing I got it. I have created some pieces that I am really happy with out of this kit.  It was a smart buy for me. :)

My photos came in that I ordered from Postal Pix for the start of my JYC. So, I actually have some of my pages complete with photos!! Hooray! I will need to place another order in a week or so. I am trying to keep up with the class, at least as far as journaling is concerned. I really want to use recent photos from THIS year if possible, but I may stick in some from years past, especially if they don't have any people in them. I MAY.... the only reason I really don't want to is because I decided that I wanted all of my album to have photos that I took with my iPhone in it, and in the 4x4 format. It's a little OCD of me to be that way, but it provides a unity to the album throughout it.

I plan on taking pictures of the completed pages to share tomorrow. See you then!!!
