You wouldn't think it by the temperature around here, but it is fall! The colorful leaves on the trees and the ones on the ground tell me that it is still fall, but 70 degree weather seems to say otherwise. However, after yesterday, I'm sure that it won't be as warm for much longer. We will just enjoy it while we can.
Raking leaves is one of my favorite things to do in the fall. Not because I enjoy yard work, but because it means I can make a HUGE pile of leaves and watch my children enjoy and make a mess of them by diving on in!
This year, however, we haven't gotten to do this, and probably won't. You see, the city is doing work, or I should say, PLANNING on doing some sewer work on our street. They already have some of the pipes and supplies out... and unfortunately, IN OUR FRONT YARD!! This is where we do our annual leaf piles and jumping. It is the perfect place because it is on a hill. But we can't do it this year, and our backyard is still muddy from when we had work done on it. So there isn't really an ideal place this year. It kind of makes me sad! :( :( :(
As I was watching the remaining leaves fall from the tree in our front yard and giving the huge pipes by it a dirty look I remembered the pictures I still had left over from a couple of years ago that I took of the kids jumping in a leaf pile. I love the look on the kids faces. That is sheer joy you see.
Prompt 9 for Shimelle's Pretty Paper Party involves using Kraft and one other color. I cheated a bit and used yellows AND oranges. I know there are other colors thrown in but I love that flowered paper by Sassafras Lass! Since finding out that Sassafras will no longer be focusing on the Patterned Paper manufacturing anymore I have been using a lot of my Sass papers. Funny how it makes me do that. I forgot how much of their paper I owned! It's a bit much!
For now, since we can't make our leaf piles to jump in, we just rake the leaves. It's not fun, but it needs to be done. The kids make do and find other things to do. I just hope that next fall we have a yard free of sewer supplies!
Enjoy your day!!!

Those papers by Sassafras are some of my faves! I love your layout!
The kids look like they are having a blast. Leaf photos are the best. Love the patterned papers you chose, and the inking on the edges of the kraft. Great page!!! xoxo
