She Let Her Inner Artist Explore

I don't know about the rest of you, but there is just something about making a mess when creating. I am artistically full-filled for the day if I have paint and ink on my hands and something creative in the works. I used to make pages, but found a new love in mixed media and working on canvas. My wonderful blog friend and former fellow SSC DT member, Angie Blom first introduced me to Christy Tomlinson and her art. It is because of her that I discovered that I AM an artist. I just had to believe it.

The canvas below was created by myself using one of the She Art phrases by Christy Tomlinson. I took the class and loved it. I have learned so many new techniques and become a better artist because of it. I am by no means up to Angie or Christy's caliber but I love how I feel when I create something. I really do FEEL like a real artist. That is the most important part.

Because of my new found love of mixed media and art, I have learned more about myself. I have used the art to get through some tough times. I was fortunate to discover this part of myself in time... I was not in a good place emotionally. I was stressed because of work and was letting it all get to me at home. My home life suffered as well. Creating has taken away all of the stress and bad feelings that I once had about my life.

You may not always feel like a real artist, but honestly, if you love what you are doing and you put your heart and soul into what you are creating, you ARE an artist. We all are. There is an artist in each and every one of us. Like the phrase says, "She let her inner artist explore." Let your inner artist explore, try new things  and never be afraid to create with your heart.

Some more photos edited with my iPhone. I love that thing!!!
