She Made Today Count

For Mother's Day this year, I received the best gift from Keith and the kids. They got me a pass to Christy Tomlinson's She Art Workshop. I had bounced back and forth around whether I wanted to take this class or not, and finally realized I couldn't pass it up if I had the chance, so I asked for it. And they happily obliged! I LOVE this class, and the techniques that I have learned thus far.

Currently, with my new job, I don't have much time to scrapbook, so I prefer to work on canvas. It allows me to start working on something and come back from time to time without feeling bad, since they take longer to complete than a scrapbook page. I haven't created a scrapbook page in a long time! I feel bad, but with the new job, I just don't have the time I once did. Since I am loving my job, it makes up for it, and I don't feel as bad as I thought I would. I ended up leaving some of my design teams and taking breaks from the others due to my schedule. I will go back to a couple, but I highly doubt I will continue them all. I need to be able to get the job done at work, and have time with my family when I get home. I would rather give up on some scrapbooking than miss out on time with my family.

Anyway, so this is the first girl that I completed from the actual class using some of the ideas and techniques I learned. I love how she turned out.

As you can see, several different mediums were used to complete her. I love my Glimmer Mist's and acrylics, so they of course had to go on here. And I am falling in love with stamps. Shh... don't tell anyone! I ended up ordering a bunch from Christy's Mixed Media shop because I loved them so much! I am still not a card maker, but I can use stamps on my projects now and not freak out about it! Hooray!

Her wings are some Prima leaves that I cut down to look more like wings. I love the design and texture that they bring to the canvas. Lot's of rubon's and stamps were used on this as well. I used an old earring for the center of her belt and think it looks adorable!

Here is a close up of the earring....

And below is the full canvas on my bedroom wall.

Thanks so much for looking!!! It's nice to have a more recent post in!!!

Emily, I love it! I bought the class as well and have done three canvases so far. I am very tempted to buy things from Christy's shop but I think she charges $18 for postage/taxes,which is fair enough. I think I shall have to dredge through some UK sites though, to try some of the yummy things she uses.Love that heart on the hem of her dress! Irene x
