Growing up in a small town, we had the opportunity to go to County Fairs, hometown fairs, and of course the biggest of all, the State Fair. I love carnivals and fairs, and love to go on the rides.... the more wild the better. At least, that was how I felt when I was younger. I would probably settle for the ferris wheel at this point. LOL
I have not been to a State Fair in years... I think the last one I went to was when I was in High School and had to sing at the Illinois State Fair on one of the outside stages. It was so much fun. I miss times like that. I miss singing and entering contests the way that I used to. With two kids, a full-time job, and so many other obligations, it is hard. I am lucky if I get to go out and karaoke on occasion.
Fairs and Carnivals are so much fun. There are so many things to do and see, great food(not that it is any good for you, but still...) and tons of people to watch! I always loved just standing and watching all of the people. Fairs where I am from are very country. Animals, overalls and trucks all over the place. Not like the little carnivals they have here in town where we live now. I miss the country fairs. Hopefully one day I will be able to take my children to one and they will see why I love the fairs so much.

Yup I did the country fairs too when I was younger. I loved them! I use to run around with an older cousin who could keep an eye on me =) I remember my mom entered quilts and a dress she made for me in the fair and won blue ribbons on all of them.

I also have been to the Iowa and Illinois State Fairs-- my husband grew up going to the Iowa State Fair (he showed pigs for FFA!) and I entered a couple sewing projects at the Illinois State Fair. I hope to go to many more-- they are awesome!
