Snow Day = Sled Day

Gotta love snow days... I remember them well. I lived out in the country, so we would get a lot of snow days throughout the winter months. We would build snow forts and have snowball fights. It was so much fun. I remember burying my little sister in the snow, making snowmen and women at the end of the lane, and sledding down the ditch. Those were the days.

Things are different now, and living in town with my own children. Snow days are more rare when you live in town, and no one in the school is coming to school from the country. Austin, did however, actually have two snow days this past week. The first on Thursday and then on Friday as well. We decided that we would go sledding one of the days.

There is a park not far from where we live that has a great hill to sled on. We hopped in the Rondo and headed off. I can say that I was NOT dressed properly. I was mainly there for the pictures.  I also chose to wear my Doc Martens.... FYI Docs, well, these Docs were NOT NOT NOT made for the snow!! OMG, I couldn't climb up the hill and practically slid down on my rear! I had to hold onto a tree to stay up!

Even though this mommy couldn't really sled, her two boys could... Austin and Keith. Boy were they cute. Keith wasn't using a typical sled. He was using this plastic sheet thing. Austin had the sled. They had a great time. I did sled just once, to get to the bottom of the hill with Austin so I could get the better shots..... getting up, well, I went up on my hands and knees!

I ended up leaving early to go home and make lunch... which was cinnamon/sugar pancakes (yum!) while the boys finished up sledding. They ended up staying two hours! OMG, were they cold when I picked them up!

If you're wondering where the princess was.... she was with her dad for the week. Some daddy/daughter time while he had off school and work. They had a great time, but we really missed her!! I'm glad she is back!
