The Loss of a Wonderful Woman

This weekend I went to Ohio to be with Keith's family. It originally was a planned trip to see his grandma Joyce who has been sick with cancer. Unfortunately we did not make it to see her in time. She passed away before we had the chance to see her one last time. She lost her fight with cancer on the 4th. She will be greatly missed by so many people. She was a woman who you just couldn't help but love, and did so many things for others. She had played the organ in church for 50 years! She was a grandmother, mother, wife, and such a wonderful person.

I had not been to a funeral in years. They are so hard for me... I have lost so many I loved. But, because of my love for Joyce and her family, I did it. And I am glad that I went. I wouldn't have had it any other way. Joyce accepted me and my children into the family with open arms, just as Keith's parents have. They didn't have to, but they did. She would always send cards and gifts to all of us... one of those things she didn't have to do, but she did. That's just the kind of person she was.

Keith and his family are so fortunate to have had this woman in their lives. We all are. She truly blessed the world by being a part of it.
