We Slip Then We Slide!

We have a house, yes, but we rent, so it's not super easy for us to get a pool for the home. Well, we could, but the truth is, besides the money for the pool itself, the backyard would need a serious overhaul since it is a hill! Kinda hard to put a pool there... so, we improvise with kiddie inflatable pools and you guessed it... a Slip n Slide!!! If you have never experienced summertime in St.Louis, you KNOW that it gets SUPER DUPER humid here!! Icky humid.... the kind where you walk outside for less than a minute and you are soaked in your sweat. Yeah, gross.

This year we got a racing slip n slide for the kids... so they don't have to take turns and can slide at the same time... what a lifesaver!! It helps prevent fighting.. to a degree anyway, which makes life easier for mom!

I used one of the shot from a day of sliding to create this layout.... I used Week 4's sketch from Simply Scrapping Crafts, Sketchy Saturday Group for July. The Alphas for the title are really brown Thickers which I painted with Crackle Paint and then used distress ink to enhance the crackles. I love the way it looks! You can see it in the closeup of it in the second photo.

I used ribbon around the photo and mats and added some flowers along the side to complete the circle when I ran out of ribbon!! (Improvise!!) The smaller flowers are Sassafras flowers... very cute!

Here's the closeup of a part of the title.... check out that crackle!!! I love it!!!

Thanks for looking!!

  1. Beautiful layout Em! I love the way you ruffled the ribbon for the big circle, and I would never have known you ran out of ribbon if you hadn't told me. Don't you love it when you come up with a fix like that? The kids are adorable on their slip'n'slide!

  3. hey, a mom's job is all about improvising right??!! Believe it or not, I was always afraid of the slip-n-slide...when I was a kid, I always thought I was gonna break my leg if I slid wrong so...just a silly fear. should scrap that since my kids are fearless and love the thing too!
